Step organization for Democracy and Election (SODE) is an independent local NGO, officially and legally registered in department of NGOs in Erbil and Baghdad, founded in 2018 by group of experienced people’s in the field of voter education programs, democracy, and human rights, SODE staff works as volunteers in enhancing and publishing awareness of electoral, democracy, role of law, and good governance, Education, sustainable development

Our Goals
- Enhance and support the foundations of political democracy and good governance
- Dissemination and promotion of electoral culture among the classes of society
- Promoting the participation of the certain groups in the decision-making process including (IDPs, returnees, women, special needs, youth, new voters under 18 years of age, prisoners and detainees with voting rights)
- Interest in religious and national coexistence and spreading the spirit of cooperation, tolerance, equality and justice among all groups
- Enhancing the electoral path and democracy in the internal life of parties and political organizations
- Pay attention to the spirit of tolerance and promote the rights of citizenship
- Advocacy and attention to the elections as the only means of peaceful transfer of power
- Awareness public opinion about, elections, dialogue and personal freedoms as the basis of democratic development and social and civil progress
- Spread the culture of human rights, especially to strengthen the role of women in society
- Works for the establishment of state institutions
- Develop and strengthen relations with NNGOs, INGOs, and UN agencies in order to achieve common goals
- Works to conduct of periodic elections in accordance with international standards
- Combating violence (political, intellectual, national, and religion)
- Combating administrative, financial and electoral corruption through awareness programs
- Attention to education as it is one of the foundations of the community development, and democracy needs an educated civil society
- Working to achieve the following sustainable development goals (SDGs): (Quality Education, Gender Equality, Reduced inequalities, Peace and justice, Partnerships for the goals)
