Project for Surveying Voters' Opinions on the Kurdistan Parliament Elections 2024
In line with the organization's objectives to measure public opinion and conduct voter surveys regarding their exercise of voting rights, the Step Organization for Democracy and Elections, in collaboration with the Center for Legal and Political Studies at the College of Law, University of Duhok, conducted a survey across the four provinces of the Kurdistan Region. This survey aimed to gather voter opinions on several issues related to the election of members for the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament, including:
Determining the percentage of participants versus non-participants.
Understanding the reasons and motivations behind voter abstention.
Identifying the participation rates of men and women.
Assessing the percentage of votes obtained by each party in each province.
Evaluating the level of trust in the work of the electoral commission.
Analyzing the factors influencing voters in their choice of candidates and lists.
The project took three months to complete, running from May 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024, with the following objectives:
Surveying voter opinions in the Kurdistan Region regarding participation in the sixth parliamentary elections.
Attempting to determine voter turnout rates and the underlying reasons for non-participation among specific voter segments.
Understanding participation rates among various age groups, particularly women and youth.
Gauging the level of trust in the Independent High Electoral Commission's management of the electoral process.
